Two Charged in Dodrick Madrill Murder, Including 16-Year-Old Minor
Police have arrested and charged a 16-year-old male minor and 31-year-old Emerson West for the murder of 19-year-old Dodrick Madrill.
Madrill who was shot and killed in Belize City on October 29 while on his way to work.
“Both were jointly charged for the crime of murder,” said ASP Stacy Smith.
The investigation was significantly advanced through footage captured by the Crime Fusion and Operations Centre, which recorded the shooting and its aftermath.
Police believe the killing stemmed from an internal gang conflict. “This one in particular is the result of the implosion that is happening in a particular gang,” Smith explained.
Smith said internal gang conflicts are particularly challenging to police because those involved are familiar with each other’s movements and operations and generally operate within a small area.
She also confirmed that only one person fired during the attack but did not discuss the individual roles of the two accused, saying those details would have to be established in court.
