Two Dead in Separate Crashes, Here’s What Police Know
Police are investigating two separate fatal road traffic accidents, including a crash near Belmopan in which police say alcohol was involved.
ACP Hilberto Romero said the first crash happened on Thursday near La Cabana in Belmopan.
“Upon their arrival, they saw that a Mazda vehicle was overturned in the bushes, the lifeless body of a male person was found in the area. He was identified as Chad Borland of Belmopan,” Romero said.
According to Romero, Borland was driving when he lost control of the vehicle and was thrown from it. Another passenger sustained minor injuries and is in stable condition.
Romero also said police received information that alcohol was involved in the accident.
In a separate incident on Friday, police responded to a crash on the Coastal Road involving a trailer truck and a car.
Romero said Hector Morales was driving the trailer truck when he made a turn and the car collided with the trailer. The driver of the car was identified as 43-year-old Ramzi Asaad of Belize City.
An intended prosecution notice was served on Morales, and a urine sample was obtained. Romero said police are investigating to determine whether any charges will be brought.
