Two Detained in Murder of Phillip Nicholas
Police have confirmed that two individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the murder of 57-year-old Phillip Nicholas.
Nicholas was shot dead in his home at the Belize Defence Force housing site while he slept with his wife and four-year-old grandson. The incident occurred around 2.00 a.m. on Sunday.
Police say a male intruder entered through an open side door and fired several shots, fatally injuring Nicholas in the head. His wife and grandson were unharmed.
Nicholas’s partner described him as “a jovial person, a loving, kind, friendly person. He loved to dance and make a clown of himself.” She added, “He always talking about how he loves his kids and grandkids them, and when his grandkids are not around, he feels boring.”
“Situations like these always come as a shock; nobody is prepared for things like this… God is the overseer of everything; he sees and knows everything, so I left it in his hands,” she told News 5.
