Two Men Charged With Kidnapping After San Andres Interception

Police have formally charged two men with kidnapping and threat of death in connection with an October 3rd incident in the Corozal District.

On Monday, October 5th, police arrested and charged 28-year-old Alex Marcus Lewis, a Belizean laborer, and 40-year-old Brian Ezikel Dena, a Belizean construction worker. They were charged jointly with kidnapping and threat of death.

On Saturday, police intercepted a red pickup truck in the San Andres area of Corozal after receiving reports that two men had been forcibly taken. Officers found four people inside: Ricardo Zetina and Walter Pineda, along with the two suspects. ACP Hilberto Romero, head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch, said Zetina and Pineda reported being forced into the vehicle while the two suspects questioned them about stolen items. He said they then went to question the brother of one of the men before police were called.

Romero said the suspects were accusing the two men of buying stolen items from people in the area.
