UDP Leader Moses Barrow: “Release the Footage”
United Democratic Party Leader Shyne Barrow has written to Prime Minister John Briceño demanding the release of “unedited surveillance footage from August 22” from the area directly capturing when Joseph Budna was abducted from Orange Walk Town.
Barrow is requesting the video footage of six government offices, including the Banquitas House of Culture, the Social Security Board, and the National Bank of Belize.
Barrow said the release was “imperative to ensure transparency and restore public trust given the allegations against the Commissioner of Police and other police officers in the extrajudicial kidnapping of Joseph Budna.”
He also repeated his call for an independent investigation.
Earlier today, Home Affairs Minister Kareem Musa stated that “regardless of the outcome of the investigation by police, because of this particular case, in terms of openness and transparency, it warrants an independent investigation.”
Since late August, News 5 continues to call on authorities to release the videos related to Budna’s kidnapping.
