UDP Signals Reset Under New Leader Tracy Panton

The United Democratic Party (UDP) presented a new face and a clear message today, signalling a reset following many months of internal conflict. Tracy Panton, elected as party leader at the UDP’s November 30 national convention, led her partially new executive team in their first press conference at the party’s headquarters on Youth for the Future Drive, a location that has recently symbolised the party’s internal struggles.

Panton called for a “back-to-basics” approach focused on organisation, discipline, and unity, while acknowledging the challenges of restoring trust both within the party and among voters. “In the rebirth of the United Democratic Party, our mission is clear: to restore unity, strengthen our democracy, preserve our integrity, and rebuild a modern, disciplined, people-centered political organisation that is ready to lead,” she said.

The new leader stressed the importance of national reform and citizen participation, inviting all Belizeans interested in contributing to the country’s renewal to engage with the UDP’s agenda and white paper. Taegar-Panton highlighted the party’s view that the current administration is “unraveling at a neck-breaking pace,” positioning the UDP’s reform efforts as a necessary step for national leadership.
