Unclaimed Winnings of Million Dalla Jackpot Donated
The Belize Government Lotteries Limited (BGLL) has awarded the unclaimed winnings of the December 2025 Million Dalla Jackpot to the two nonprofit organizations.
The Belize Red Cross and Pathlight Belize each received a check for 55,555.55 dollars, funds that will directly support humanitarian and educational programs across the country.
BGLL noted that while the prize remained unclaimed, the money will now serve a higher purpose by contributing to community development.
For the Belize Red Cross, the donation comes at a crucial time. Director General Lily Bowman expressed appreciation for the donation, saying, “It feels very gratifying when our work is recognized and appreciated.”
The funds will help the Red Cross sustain programs in more than 100 communities nationwide, including health initiatives, blood recruitment drives, psychosocial support, and water, sanitation, and hygiene projects.
Bowman explained that nonprofit organizations often struggle with the costs of mobilizing staff and volunteers. The Red Cross’s last National Intervention Team training was held in 2018, and she said the organization has been unable to update it due to funding constraints. “Now we can update their training and ensure that our volunteers are ready and prepared to quickly respond to emergencies,” Bowman said, noting the fast-approaching 2026 hurricane season.
She added that the donation will not only strengthen the Red Cross’s independent work but also reinforce its role as an auxiliary to government in humanitarian response.
Meanwhile, Pathlight Belize plans to use its share of the funds to expand educational opportunities and leadership development programs for underserved communities.
