US Revokes Colombian President’s Visa

The United States has revoked Colombian President Gustavo Petro’s visa following remarks he made at a pro-Palestinian rally in New York, where he urged US soldiers to disobey orders from President Donald Trump. The State Department condemned Petro’s comments as “reckless and incendiary.”

Petro, who was in the US for the UN General Assembly, had earlier called for a criminal investigation into US airstrikes on alleged drug-trafficking boats in the Caribbean. He was already returning to Bogotá when news of the visa cancellation broke, according to Colombian media.

In his speech, Petro urged the creation of a “world salvation army” to liberate Palestine and told American soldiers to “obey the order of humanity” rather than Trump’s commands. The State Department accused him of inciting violence.

The development comes as the US also denied visas to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and dozens of Palestinian officials, preventing them from attending the UN General Assembly.
