Venezuelan Mothers Urge Melania Trump to Reunite Families

A group of Venezuelan mothers has written an emotional letter to U.S. First Lady Melania Trump, pleading for her intervention in what they describe as a “tragedy” caused by U.S. migrant deportation policies.

In the letter dated August 18, 2025, the women say their children have been taken from them under painful circumstances in the United States, leaving entire families broken and children living “in uncertainty and exposed to a reality they cannot fully understand.”

“Can you be at peace for even a minute without knowing the whereabouts of your child? Could you sleep calmly without knowing if they ate or how they are feeling? We cannot move forward without having them near us,” the mothers wrote.

The group urged Trump, who has publicly advocated for children’s welfare, to use her voice to help reunite migrant families. “We ask you to hear the cry of the families, that this policy of separation may no longer continue, that mothers simply be deported together with their children,” the letter states.

The signatories include dozens of mothers, grandmothers, and fathers representing children as young as seven months old. They stress that their appeal is not political but based on human rights and maternal love. “Children’s rights are above any political decision,” they wrote.
