Venezuela’s Acting Leader Tired of U.S. Interference
Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, voiced frustration against the United States on Sunday, saying her country has “had enough” of Washington’s orders.
Rodríguez made the remarks to a group of oil workers in Puerto La Cruz, calling on the U.S. to stop interfering in Venezuela’s internal politics. “Enough already of Washington’s orders over politicians in Venezuela. Let Venezuelan politics resolve our differences and our internal conflicts,” she said in remarks aired on state TV.
Her comments come nearly a month after U.S. forces captured Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, in a raid earlier this year. Since then, the U.S. government has pushed Venezuela to resume oil production and cut ties with countries like China, Russia, Iran, and Cuba.
According to CNN, the United States initially indicated it would guide Venezuela’s transition after the raid, with President Donald Trump saying the U.S. would “run” the country. Trump later praised Rodríguez as a “terrific person” and said they were “getting along very well,” following a phone call earlier this month.
