WASH Project Launched at Bella Vista Polyclinic

A Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (W.A.S.H.) project was officially inaugurated on Thursday at the Bella Vista Polyclinic in the Toledo District.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, and Local Government and UNICEF. The project includes the installation of two 10,000-liter water tanks, the construction of an elevated concrete stand, and a new laundry room designed to strengthen the facility’s water storage and sanitation capacity.

Officials say the upgraded infrastructure will provide a backup water supply in the event of disruptions to the main system, allowing the polyclinic to continue operating during shortages. The added laundry facilities are also expected to improve hygiene standards and support infection control.

The project forms part of ongoing efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and sanitation services in rural communities.
