Weekend Records Two Fatal Motorcycle Crashes

Two men lost their lives in separate motorcycle accidents reported on Saturday in the Cayo District and along the Hummingbird Highway.

According to ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of the National Crime Investigation Branch, one of the incidents occurred in the La Loma Luz area, Cayo, where police found a damaged motorcycle and an unconscious man identified as Gerson Fuyub. “Information is that Fuyub was riding his motorcycle. He lost control and hit a cement structure in the area.” Fuyub was taken for treatment but later died from his injuries.

Later that same day, another fatal crash was reported between miles forty-eight and forty-nine on the Hummingbird Highway. Police found Jorge Gonzalez unconscious near his damaged motorcycle. ACP Romero said that Gonzalez was riding his motorcycle and also lost control. “He fell to the street. That is what caused his injuries,” he said.
