What Did PM Briceño Discuss With a Top U.S. Official?
Prime Minister John Briceño met with United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, where the two leaders reaffirmed Belize’s relationship with the United S
tates and discussed cooperation on security, economic development and regional stability.

The meeting also focused on progress under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact.
“Deputy Secretary Landau and Prime Minister Briceño discussed opportunities to advance our partnership through the Millenium Challenge Corporation compact, promoting security cooperation against narco-trafficking, countering illegal immigration, and strengthening trade and commercial ties,” according to the U.S. Department of State.
Briceño and Landau also discussed “deepening trade and commercial relations to create greater opportunities for investment and prosperity,” a government statement read.
The Prime Minister welcomed continued progress on the MCC Compact and reiterated Belize’s commitment to working closely with the United States on shared priorities.
