What Will Belize’s Environment Look Like in 2036? Talks Begin Now
The Ministry of Sustainable Development has launched consultations for a new National Environmental Policy and Strategy that will guide the country for the next decade.
The Department of the Environment convened a workshop to begin work on the National Environmental Policy and Strategy 2026-2036, the National Environmental Action Plan 2026-2031, and a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.
“The workshop brought together government officials, technical experts, civil society representatives, academia, and stakeholders from across the country to reflect on the achievements and challenges of the previous NEPS (2014-2024),” the ministry said in a statement.
The new strategy will be developed through an “inclusive, consultative and participatory process.” Participants engaged in discussions on priorities, frameworks, and challenges, generating recommendations to shape the draft.
