White House Criticises Nobel Committee for Overlooking Trump

The White House has accused the Nobel Committee of placing “politics over peace” after Venezuelan pro-democracy activist María Corina Machado won the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize instead of President Donald Trump.

Machado was honoured for her “tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela.” Trump has long sought the award, citing his role in ending global conflicts and mentioning it during speeches, including at the UN General Assembly.

“The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace,” said White House communications director Steven Cheung. “President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will.”

Trump recently helped secure a multi-stage Gaza ceasefire, prompting him to declare, “BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS.” Machado also praised Trump on X, writing, “I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!”

Despite support from leaders including Benjamin Netanyahu and Vladimir Putin, Trump faced hurdles. Nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize close on January 31, shortly after he took office, and the Committee reviews candidates through September.
