Wide-Load Permit Holders Must Update Permits, DoT Says
The Department of Transport (DoT) is requesting all holders of valid wide-load permits to visit its Belmopan office for amendments to their existing permits.
Permit holders must present their original permits along with the official receipts. The Department will issue updated permits reflecting revised conditions designed to improve road safety and reduce traffic disruptions.
Earlier this month, on August 6, the DoT announced that “Effective immediately, the Department of Transport will prohibit the transportation of houses and oversized structures on all public roads from Mondays to Sundays during the hours of 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Movement will only be permitted between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. daily.”
“This amendment process ensures that all wide-load movements, including the transportation of houses and oversized structures, are conducted in accordance with the updated regulations,” the department said in its most recent statement.
The ministry stressed that compliance is mandatory, warning that failure to adhere may result in “fines, suspension of permits, and vehicle impoundment.”
