Woman Charged for Fatally Shooting Wilson Hernandez

Police have formally arrested and charged 21-year-old Christy Guzman of Belmopan City for manslaughter following the shooting death of 28-year-old Wilson Hernandez.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Hernandez’s residence in Belmopan. Hernandez died instantly from a single gunshot wound.

According to police, Hernandez was involved in a heated altercation with his common-law wife, during which he allegedly threatened her. The woman, who is a licensed firearm holder, reportedly handed her weapon to her niece. Guzman then fired the fatal shot.

Hernandez’s mother spoke to News 5 after the incident. She said, “I did not notice that the niece had the gun in a bag. I was telling them, ‘Calm down, calm down,’ and then I saw her hand stretch out with a small black thing.”
