Woman Detained After Urging Venezuela to Attack T&T PM’s Residence
A Trinidadian woman is now under a detention order after authorities say she posted a photo of one of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s residences on social media and urged the Venezuelan Government to target it.
The development comes after Venezuela declared Persad-Bissessar a persona non grata in October, meaning she is barred and unwelcome in the country. Venezuelan officials said the move was in response to her support for U.S. naval exercises near Venezuelan waters, which they saw as a threat to their sovereignty.
The Trinidad & Tobago Guardian reported that the order, issued on November 12, identifies the woman as Olive Green-Jack. Officials said her post attempted to draw Venezuela into violent action against the Prime Minister, the state, and the wider public.
The document described her comments as a serious threat to national safety, raising concerns about possible external involvement in local violence.
Green-Jack will be held at Trinidad & Tobago Women’s Prison as part of the detention order.
