Woman Wins 15,000 Dollars on New Years Day

A woman kicked off the new year with a big win after scoring fifteen thousand dollars with a Scratch and Win ticket on New Year’s Day. Tonight, the Independence Village resident explains how a quick trip to the store magnified her family’s celebratory spirit. She stopped by our office today to share the details of her big win.

“I was hanging out with my sisters  and I told my sister, I gwen da shop, I want a scratch. I gone da shop and I buy one. I only went eight dollars. I gone back to buy a five dollars scratch, but when I got back fi buy this five dollars scratch, the girl told me no five dollars scratch. So I said, please gimme a next three dollars and done and gimme the five dollars change. And I tell her I don’t want the one weh you just gimme from there, flip it over and when she flip it over and I say I noh scratch it pon the way to my sister, I wa wait till I reach her and I scratch the scratch. And when I see, I want know if I di see good. I recheck it and I halla fi alla my sister ney.. And I tell ney unu please check this. I think I win fifteen thousand dollars. I think I win fifteen thousand dollars. My whole family was so excited. And then all my sister say, yes, you win, you win. And I mi feel so excited. ’cause man, this da wa goodcome up for the new year.”
