Women in Uniform Open Women’s Month 2026

The streets of Belize City were filled with pride, women’s empowerment and plenty of applause today as more than 650 uniformed women marched in a first for the country.

That is how women officers from the Police Department, the Belize Defence Force and the Coast Guard opened Women’s Month 2026.

With women now making up approximately 33% of the police force, Commissioner of Police Dr Richard Rosado said a significant number of supervisory posts are held by women.

Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam praised the milestone and commended the women for their service and commitment to national security.
