World Bank Appoints Achim Fock to Lead Caribbean Division

The World Bank has appointed Achim Fock as its new Division Director for the Caribbean, where he will oversee the institution’s lending, advisory services and development programs across the region.

The World Bank said Fock will lead its strategic engagement with Caribbean nations while working with governments, civil society and the private sector to advance sustainable and resilient development.

Fock brings more than 25 years of experience with the World Bank. He most recently served as Country Manager for Zambia and previously held senior operational roles covering Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. He has also worked as a senior economist in several countries across Africa, East Asia and Eastern Europe.

As Division Director, Fock will focus on helping Caribbean countries address key development challenges, including job creation, economic growth, the transition to cleaner energy, disaster risk preparedness, resilient infrastructure and strengthening economic resilience.

He holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics, along with master’s degrees in Agricultural Science and Agricultural Economics, and a postgraduate diploma in European Integration and International Economics.
