You Are Invited to Wear Blue Fridays to Fight Against Human Trafficking
The National Commission for Families and Children (NCFC) is calling on individuals, organisations, and businesses across Belize to wear blue every Friday in July as part of the Blue Teddy Bear Campaign and anti-human trafficking awareness efforts.
The initiative aims to raise awareness about trafficking in persons while encouraging communities to stand together in protecting children and other vulnerable groups from exploitation and abuse.
NCFC says the simple act of wearing blue is meant to spark conversations, encourage public engagement, and remind Belizeans that preventing trafficking requires collective action.
Participants are being encouraged to wear blue, take photos with colleagues, friends, or family, and share them on social media using the hashtags #BlueTeddyBear and #WearBlueFriday, while tagging NCFC to highlight their involvement.
The Blue Teddy Bear Campaign was launched earlier this year by NCFC, in partnership with UNICEF Belize and the Ministry of Human Development, Family Support and Gender Affairs, with the goal of strengthening child protection efforts and encouraging communities to recognise, prevent, and report violence and abuse against children.
At the centre of the campaign is a blue teddy bear with a bandage, which symbolises comfort, healing, and protection for children. Organisers say the campaign is focused on moving beyond awareness by empowering families, schools, community groups, and workplaces to take action.
