Young Belizean Entrepreneur Opens Call for Ride Share Drivers
A young Belizean is steering innovation in local transportation. At just eighteen years old, Joshua Lauriano is turning heads with his daring new startup, Compass Ride Sharing Service. It’s a startup born right here in Belize City, and it promises to change the way we move around. Lauriano says his vision is simple: to make transportation more convenient and accessible for Belizeans. And tonight, that vision is taking shape. Compass Ride Sharing is officially open for business, and for drivers. The call is out for those who want to join his team and be part of this new chapter in Belize’s transport sector. We caught up with Lauriano earlier today to learn more about what inspired this ambitious leap and what commuters can expect when Compass hits the road.

Joshua Lauriano, Founder, Compass Ride Share Service
“Compass Ride Sharing Service is a transportation service. We offer safe, affordable, and reliable 24/7 transportation. Now, the reason why I started this company is because my job as an entrepreneur, as a businessman is to create economic problem solving inside Belize City. And the reason why I name it Compass is specifically because it’s that tool that takes you from point A to point B. Now, Compass is like a team whereby, we’ll join together as a team to push Belize economy forward. So I have other concepts. However, I’m basically focused on this specific one, which I have here, which is ride share, improving transportation. We do criminal background checks on our drivers. Murder, human trafficking, sexual crimes, especially with children, stalk and threatening others. We also make sure they have a valid driver’s license, make sure they keep good maintenance of the vehicle. Now, at the time, unfortunately we don’t have a driver, but I’m also always doing, promise just as this to gain drivers.”

Joshua Lauriano
“Drivers who are interested in joining the company, specifically the Compass team. How we pay is that we pay based on commission. You are free to work whenever you feel like, however, you’re only being paid weekly. Seventy percent commission and if you accept rides and also complete them.”
It’s an ambitious leap for a rising innovator, and if Lauriano has his way, Compass could soon become a household name in Belizean transportation.
