Young Belizean to Make History at World Imperial Beauty International Pageant
Representing Belize on the International Stage
Eight-year-old Kalani Hoyte, the reigning World Imperial Beauty Belize Junior Miss, is preparing to represent Belize on the international stage while carrying a message that extends far beyond crowns and sashes.
On today’s episode of Open Your Eyes, Kalani and her mother, Stacy Hoyte, shared details about her upcoming participation in the World Imperial Beauty International Pageant, which takes place on July 22 in Orlando, Florida. Kalani will become the first Belizean delegate to compete in the international pageant, representing the country among contestants from across the Caribbean and beyond.
While excited about wearing beautiful gowns, making new friends, and experiencing the competition, Kalani made it clear that winning isn’t her only goal. Instead, she’s looking forward to representing Belize with kindness, confidence, and compassion.
Giving Back Before Taking the Stage
A major component of the World Imperial Beauty pageant is community service, and for Kalani, that meant giving back to Belize—her mother’s homeland and a country she has visited every summer since birth.
With the support of family, friends, and community members, Kalani raised funds to prepare hygiene baskets and grocery packages for 30 families in San Ignacio who are facing financial hardship. Rather than asking recipients to travel, Kalani and her family planned to personally deliver the care packages directly to their homes, ensuring the donations reached those who needed them most.
During the interview, Kalani proudly recited the speech she prepared for the pageant, sharing how even the smallest act of kindness can make a meaningful difference and encouraging children everywhere to serve others with love and compassion.
Confidence, Compassion, and Belizean Pride
Although this is Kalani’s first major pageant, her confidence and poise stood out throughout the conversation. Her mother credited her natural determination and willingness to challenge herself, saying Kalani has always embraced opportunities to grow while striving to do her very best.
The international competition will feature contestants from countries including the Bahamas, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and South Africa. As part of the cultural wear competition, Kalani will proudly showcase Belize by wearing a traditional Garifuna-inspired outfit created by a local Belizean designer.
Beyond the competition itself, Kalani hopes people remember her not for a title, but for her kindness. Whether she returns home with a crown or simply new friendships and unforgettable experiences, she says her greatest accomplishment will be representing Belize with pride and making a positive impact on others.
