Your Package Will Cost $1 More to Ship to the U.S.
The Belize Postal Service will begin charging customers an additional one dollar for packages sent to the United States, following approval from Cabinet.
The move comes after a July 2025 executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump, which requires all dutiable international postal items entering the U.S. to be taxed. Previously, goods valued up to US$800 could enter the U.S. duty-free.
Officials said the new fee is necessary to offset the additional costs imposed on the postal service under the updated U.S. regulations.
The policy is expected to impact both businesses and individuals who regularly ship goods to the United States.
