“$1 Turned Into $5,000”, Says Latest Winner of Scratch and Win

A man has received a $5,000 payday after landing a lucky scratch-and-win ticket in Belmopan.

The winner told News 5 that he had asked one of his workers to buy the ticket while the crew was on a break.

He said, “It was around 3:00 yesterday. Our guys were on a work break. So I sent one of my workers to buy and purchase the ticket. And, when he was coming back, he reached at the shop, he decided scratch it. He said, ‘Mein, mek I scratch it out’,and i said ‘go ahead.’ and that’s when he noticed and said, ‘mein, you won five thousand dollars’. I was like, ‘You kidding?'”

The lucky winner said he was stunned at the lucky ticket and immediately returned to the store to verify the win.

“I said, ‘What, $1 makes you five grand? ‘… it was like, ‘Whoa, it’s good,” he said.

While he has not yet decided how he will spend the prize money, he encourages anyone to try their luck. “I mean, don’t get a habit of doing it, but I mean, now and then is a good to try. ‘Cause I’m not someone that purchase it often. It’s just, like, a lucky purchase,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased in Belmopan.
