17-Year-Old Shot Dead, Here’s What Police Know

Seventeen-year-old Kaylon David was shot and killed on Iguana Street in Belize City on Thursday evening, October 8. Police have one suspect in custody as investigators review surveillance footage in connection with the murder.

According to ACP Hilberto Romero, David was walking on Iguana Street to run an errand when he was approached by a man who fired several shots at him.

“We are reviewing video footage, and we have one suspect in custody in regards to this murder,” Romero said.

David was taken to the hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. Romero said investigators believe the killing may be linked to a rivalry involving people in the area, where threats had reportedly been exchanged.
