Elderly Man Found Dead with Chop Wounds in San Lazaro

A morning trip to the cane fields turned into a chilling discovery in San Lazaro Village. Police say sixty-eight-year-old Virginio Carillo was found dead near a feeder road with multiple chop wounds, leaving the quiet farming community shaken. Investigators are now trying to ascertain what led to the brutal killing and who may be responsible. According to ACP Hilberto Romero, head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch, a passerby made the discovery while heading to work in the nearby cane fields.

“This morning around nine thirty a.m. police were called to San Lazarro Village, where information received that a body had been found. Police went to the area near a cane field road where they saw the lifeless body of a male person identified as Virginio Carillo, sixty-eight years old. He was observed with several chop wounds. Police are presently processing the scene at this time. We do not know at this time. The information just came in this morning and we are dealing with it.”

“Do you believe alcohol may have been involved?”

“Not that we know of. He left from his workplace and he was going to his farm.”

“Somebody who was going to one of the cane fields saw the body and he called the police.”

“No, he was not reported missing. He left home to go to his farm.”

 

The Ministry of Local Government and the San Lazaro Village Council have both issued messages of condolence.
