Belize is exploring new opportunities to grow its industries, embrace technology, and build a greener economy after taking part in a major regional conference in Uruguay.

The Government of Belize, through the Ministry of Investment, participated in the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean held in Montevideo from July 15 to 16.

The event brought together leaders, businesses, and development partners from across the region to discuss how countries can strengthen industries, create new opportunities, and prepare for a more sustainable future.

During the conference, Belize highlighted its work on developing a National Industrial Strategy focused on green and blue industries. The initiative, supported by UNIDO and the Government of Japan, is looking at areas such as agro-processing and manufacturing that could help drive economic growth.

Belize also explored how small businesses could benefit from new technology. Meetings with the UNIDO AIM Global Alliance focused on possible artificial intelligence training and tools for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses.
