Elvis Williams Arrested for Faber’s Road Shooting

Police have made an arrest following a Saturday night shooting report in the Faber’s Road area of Belize City, but the investigation is not over. Twenty-six-year-old Elvis Williams has been charged with abetment to commit aggravated assault after police say a man reported being fired upon at his home. Investigators say two men rode up on a motorcycle and one of them fired a single shot. Police are now looking for another person in connection with the case. ASP Stacy Smith shares the details.

“Police have formally arrested and charged twenty-six-year-old Elvis Williams of Belize City for the crime of abatement to commit aggravated assault. The arrest follows police investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on Saturday, eighth August twenty twenty-six, at approximately seven o’clock PM in the Farber’s Road area. The investigating officer reported that a male person visited the police station and reported that whilst he was at his residence, a motorcycle approached him and one of the male persons who were on board the motorcycle fired a single shot. Police are seeking another individual as a part of this ongoing investigation.”

Four Young Men Shot in Separate Weekend Incidents

 

Two separate shooting incidents over the weekend have left four young men injured in San Pedro and Dangriga. In San Pedro, police are investigating an early Sunday morning shooting on Lion Street that stemmed from a verbal altercation involving occupants of two golf carts. Police say twenty-nine-year-old store owner Francisco Daniel Nah reported that the men became involved in an argument, during which bottles were thrown. Nah told police that one of the occupants then reached toward his waist, causing him to believe the man was reaching for a firearm. Fearing for his life, Nah, who is licensed to carry a 9-millimeter pistol, says he fired three warning shots into the ground. The occupants subsequently left the area. Later that afternoon, twenty-year-old Rennel Aguilar and nineteen-year-old Edwin Barco reported to police that they had sustained gunshot injuries during the incident. Both were taken for medical treatment as police continue to investigate. Meanwhile, in Dangriga, two nineteen-year-old men were also injured in a separate shooting Saturday night. Police say Kevon Higinio and Jim Mendez had just left an establishment when they were approached by two men who fired several shots in their direction. Both Higinio and Mendez sustained apparent gunshot wounds and were taken to the Southern Regional Hospital. They remain hospitalized in stable condition and are under observation. Police have not disclosed a motive in the Dangriga shooting, and no suspects have been identified. Four youngsters shot in five hours and police are working to establish exactly what led to each shooting and identify those responsible.
