Four Fishermen Charged After Overnight Patrol Catches Lobster Violations

Four fishermen are facing fisheries charges after a joint patrol intercepted their vessel inside the Half Moon Caye Marine Protected Area early Wednesday morning.

The Belize Coast Guard’s 2nd Fleet Marine Enforcement Unit, working alongside Belize Audubon Society Rangers, stopped the vessel and found undersized, soft-shell, and egg-bearing lobster on board, all protected under Belize’s fisheries regulations.

The Coast Guard credited the unit’s enforcement work and thanked Belize Audubon Society for its continued partnership in patrolling the protected area, with the Fisheries Department also acknowledged in connection with the case.
