Police have served a notice of intended prosecution on the driver of the Ford Explorer involved in the collision that killed PC Armando Toledano. Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith told reporters that the driver provided a urine sample and is cooperating with investigators following the crash near Mile 27 on the Philip Goldson Highway, which occurred on Saturday afternoon.

According to Smith, PC Toledano was travelling on a Lifan motorcycle from Orange Walk toward Belize City when the collision occurred with the oncoming vehicle. He was a member of the Belize Police Department for 24 years and was posted at the Raccoon Street Police Station.

Smith explained that the department strives to place officers as close to their homes as possible or make transportation arrangements. She also noted that the majority of staffing must be stationed at the Eastern Division in Belize City, and the department maintains a policy of avoiding postings in communities where officers are overly familiar.
