New U.S. Ambassador Presents Credentials to Governor-General

The newly appointed United States Ambassador to Belize, Andre Bauer, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam.

Bauer presented the credentials during a ceremony at the Belize House in Belmopan on September 7. Dame Froyla welcomed the new ambassador and conveyed well wishes on behalf of the people of Belize.

“I think there’s so many opportunities between both our countries to grow and prosper and really ultimately make the lives of the citizens of both our countries better by mutual understanding, trade and opportunities to work together,” Bauer said.

He also thanked Dame Froyla for accepting his credentials and said he looked forward to getting to know her better and exploring more of Belize.

Following the presentation to the Governor-General, Ambassador Bauer met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Francis Fonseca for the presentation of copies of his Letter of Credence.

Fonseca and Bauer held a bilateral meeting focused on the longstanding relationship between Belize and the United States.

Their discussions included the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact, opportunities to advance economic growth and development through strategic investments, security cooperation, trade and investment, and other areas of shared priority.
