NTUCB Extends Deadline as Cabinet Weighs Eleven Demands

The NTUCB’s deadline has come and gone, but the unions are giving Cabinet more time to respond to their eleven demands. Union Senator Glenfield Dennison says the umbrella organization extended its deadline while Cabinet considered the proposals at today’s meeting in Belmopan. The NTUCB is now expecting a formal letter that could open the door to further discussions. Here is how Dennison explains it.

“The Cabinet is meeting today. We are monitoring that Cabinet meeting because we made the decision to wait until after this Cabinet meeting to hear whether this Cabinet really addressed our issues as the Prime Minister said he would.”

 

Paul Lopez

“In terms of last week’s meeting, was the demand’s not brought up and discussed?”

 

Glenfield Dennison

“Well we don’t know but it was not brought back to us. Being mindful of that and all that the prime minister has to deal with right now, we took the decision to wait until after this meeting.”

 

Paul Lopez

“So what is expected of Cabinet from the unions or yourself, coming out of this meeting?”

 

Glenfield Dennison

“A letter of engagement that would at the very least invite us to dialogue on the eleven points we have made, or like I said, send home Mark Lizarraga.”
