Bulridge Distances Itself from Fatal Machinery Accident

Questions surrounding the workplace death of Mauricio Solis are now coming into sharper focus. Bulridge Limited says the forty-nine-year-old San Ignacio resident was on duty near the Guacamayo Bridge in Mountain Pine Ridge on September third, accompanying a private contractor to a designated worksite when the fatal accident occurred. But the company is distancing itself from the machinery involved, stressing that the dump truck, trailer and backhoe belonged to Bahadur Trucking and Backhoe Service, and that no Bulridge employee was operating the equipment. As the investigation continues, police today provided new details about the incident that claimed Solis’s life.

“Initial investigation revealed that Solis was on a dump truck which was towing a trailer that was carrying a grader passing the bed of that trailer. While the driver was trying to ascend a hill, the truck experienced mechanical difficulties, causing it to roll backwards. The driver subsequently lost control of the vehicle which overturned. During the incident, Solis was flung from the truck and became pinned underneath it. He sustained severe injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead. Police processed the scene and have commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. A file is currently being compiled and upon completion it will be directed to the Office of the DPP for directives therefrom.”

 

Police have issued an NIP to the driver of the truck.
