Young Barber Ambushed and Killed in Sandhill
A young barber who built relationships one haircut at a time is now at the center of a murder investigation in Sandhill. Twenty-one-year-old Jahrule Gibson was riding his bicycle along Salt Creek Road on Friday night when police say someone apparently ambushed and fatally shot him. His killing has shaken residents who knew him through his work and left a community searching for answers. Investigators are now examining whether an ongoing dispute between Gibson and another villager may have triggered the deadly attack. News Five’s Britney Gordon reports.

“This is the scene where the body of local barber, Jahrule Gibson, was found on Friday night after reportedly being ambushed and shot dead around ten thirty PM. Reports are that Gibson was on his way to a nearby shop accompanied by a male minor on horseback while he traveled on bicycle when the pair allegedly noticed that someone was following them in a vehicle. Gibson reportedly attempted to flee the area, but before he could do so, someone exited the vehicle and fired several shots in his direction, fatally wounding him. Now, investigators are trying to piece together what could have led to Gibson’s death and find the people responsible for the killing.”

“On Friday, the second day of October 2026, around ten forty-five p.m, police responded to a shooting incident in Sandhill. Upon arrival, we saw a lifeless body from a person identified as Jahrule Gibson, twenty-one-year-old Jahrule Gibson received multiple gunshot injuries. He was taken for treatment where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Information is that he was riding his bicycle in the area at the time when he was approached by a person who fired several shots towards his direction, causing his fatal injuries.”
Who called Jahrule Gibson out of his house before he was killed? His family alleges that the twenty-one-year-old barber, also known as Jahrule Pasqual, was picked up by someone he knew. His cousin was home at the time and recalls hearing someone call his name, but she is uncertain exactly when he left.

Gibson had been barbering for the past three years and was well-known in the community for his skill. His brother shared how both the family and the wider Sandhill community are feeling the loss.

Residents say police processed the scene into the early hours of the morning before removing Gibson’s body. His family claims he was still breathing when they arrived and later died in his cousin’s arms. Britney Gordon for News Five.
