Tourism Delegation Promotes Belize In Puerto Rico
For Belizean tour operators, attracting cruise passengers often begins long before a ship reaches our shores. It starts by getting their tours in front of the executives who shape each passenger’s experience. A delegation led by the Belize Tourism Board is now pitching Belize at the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association’s Thirty-Second Annual Cruise Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. With more than seven hundred industry representatives attending, local operator Tanisha Vernon says the conference is helping Belizean businesses understand what cruise lines expect and what it takes to compete globally.

“AS a tour operator in the cruise tourism industry this is one of the highlights for any tour operator. So to be a new company and having this opportunity through BTB to be one of those operators among others that are here with me, I must thank BTB for that pathway to be here, because this is the biggest conference in the cruise industry where you get to meet cruise ship representatives and take your local tours to an international level. You get to meet one on one with the shore excursion representative and they are the one who decide whether your tour is good enough for international passengers. So, for a new operator like myself, to get an insight about what are the requirements and how to be a world class operator, this definitely enhance my knowledge and experiences I have learnt.”
BTB says it remains committed to supporting local tour operators.
