Cupid the Green Turtle Shows Progress After a Month of Therapy
A juvenile green sea turtle named Cupid is showing signs of improvement after a month of electrical stimulation therapy at Ecomar, according to the organisation.
Ecomar, which provides sea turtle rehabilitation in partnership with the Fisheries Department, says Cupid suffered from osteomyelitis earlier this year. The bone infection affected her shoulder joints, so she now needs stimulation to help with mobility in her front flippers.
She is being treated with TENS therapy. Ecomar says that after a month of treatment, it is seeing improvement in how she moves through the water, as she is now using both front flippers at the same time.
Ecomar says recovery from osteomyelitis can take a year or more. It posted an appeal for the public to “send some healing vibes” Cupid’s way.
