The National Sports Council (NSC) held a send-off ceremony on Saturday for the athletes who will represent Belize at the 2026 CODICADER Disability Games in Guatemala, scheduled for October 25 to 31.

It will be Belize’s third appearance at the regional Games, which bring together young athletes with disabilities from across Central America.

Belize’s delegation has about 63 members: 34 athletes and 29 officials and support personnel, including coaches, chaperones, classifiers and delegation leaders. The athletes will compete in athletics, boccia and goalball.

The team includes students from 10 schools across the Belize, Cayo, Toledo and Orange Walk districts.

The delegation includes athletes with intellectual disabilities, including Down syndrome; physical disabilities, including cerebral palsy; visual impairments; hearing impairments; and learning disabilities, subject to the Games’ eligibility requirements.
