New Frankfurt Flight Set to Expand Belize’s Global Reach
More European visitors may soon be flying directly into Belize, but tourism is only part of the opportunity. A new Frankfurt-to-Belize flight is expected to begin next December, giving the country a direct connection to one of Europe’s major travel hubs. European Union Head of Office Elizabeth Lanzi-Mazzocchini says the route could strengthen cultural ties, encourage business partnerships and give Belize greater access to European markets.

“I think it’s a really exciting time. It’s historic. I am Italian originally, so definitely I look forward at personal level to have a smoother ride back home when I go to see my family for Christmas maybe next year. Understand they will start on 16 December 2027, so I’m excited to, to buy my tickets soon for next year already. I think it’s amazing. Um, really thumbs up. The government of Belize and the sub- consequent administration had been working very hard with BTB and others to make sure that this, um, came about, and kudos to Belize. Uh, great that Lufthansa, through its Discovery Airlines, you know, has finally come on board on this venture. I think it’s amazing. It’s going to open up new opportunities in terms of diversifying the profile of tourists coming to Belize. It’s going to be so much easier to come here. And let’s not just think of the tourism industry. It just brings, it makes things so much easier, you know? It brings people closer. I expect to see a lot more frequent excha- exchange, closer cultural ties, opportunities in the business sector as well. You know, there will be people coming in, uh, also with, uh, not just for tourism, but for other reasons probably as well, right? So overall, it’s something that is, I expect is going to give a big push to growth and new economic opportunities for other industries as well. Creative cultural industry, you name it, you know. Not just hospitality sector. We always think about tourism, but there’s a lot more in terms of our partnership with the, with European Union countries. So really looking forward to it. Thumbs up.”
