“On Friday, 23rd October 2026, police responded to reports of shots being fired in the vicinity of Cairo Street, Belize City. Initial investigation has revealed that twenty-year-old Michael Caceres and a seventeen-year-old male minor, along with other individuals, were socializing in a yard on Cairo Street when they were fired upon by an individual, resulting in the injury of Caceres and the male minor. Both individuals were transported to the hospital where they were treated and released. As it relates to motive, no clear motive has been established. However, I will say that we have noted an increase in activity within that region, that the department is monitoring and employing our technological resources and other tools of proactive policing to combat.”
