Doctor Roque Blanco Still Needs Your Help
Belize’s only forensic anthropologist still needs help to raise funds for a kidney transplant. It’s been weeks since fundraising efforts have been active, and Dr Roque Blanco has yet to reach the amount needed to support a kidney transplant.
His GoFundMe was launched in June 2025, and it’s struggled to reach 8% of the $30,000 USD goal.
“I’ve been battling with diabetes for the past twenty-five years, which led to a kidney problem. Which has been worsening and declining over the last year and a half,” he said. “I’ve been on dialysis for the past two months.”
Dr Blanco has spent more than twenty years serving Belize in the military, morgue, and courts. Even while on dialysis, he continues offering free clinics to his community in Orange Walk Town.
Dr Blanco pioneered techniques in forensic medicine in Belize, a breakthrough that allows the identification of bodies from skeletal remains. His work has earned regional recognition and is an example for those he trains in the Crimes Investigation Branch and National Forensic Science Service.
For over 20 years, Dr Roque Blanco has served Belize on the frontlines of forensic medicine and public safety, and he is now calling on the public for the assistance he needs to continue battling for his life.
Donations can be made to his GoFundMe or Atlantic Bank Account #211052705.
