Gaza Ceasefire Talks Show Progress Under Trump-Led Initiative
Negotiations aimed at reaching a Gaza ceasefire under President Donald Trump’s proposed plan are showing signs of progress, according to CNN. Both Israel and Hamas have reportedly made headway during the first two days of discussions.
US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump advisor Jared Kushner are expected to arrive in Egypt on Wednesday to join the talks, alongside Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer and Qatar’s prime minister.
The renewed diplomatic push comes as hundreds gather in southern Israel to mark two years since the October 7th Hamas attacks, which left over 1,000 people dead and more than 200 taken hostage.
Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza has since claimed over 60,000 lives, the majority being women and children, and pushed parts of the territory into famine.
