Ladyville Couple Granted Bail After Weed, Cash, and Gun Bust
A Ladyville couple is out on bail tonight after police say they were busted with weed, cash, and even a firearm during a house search last Friday. The pair has been identified as twenty-one-year-old Monica Olga Bowden, a call center agent, and her common-law husband, twenty-seven-year-old Andre Lewis Belisle, an office assistant. Both appeared in Courtroom Six late yesterday before Magistrate Mannon Dennison, where they faced three counts of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply.
Police say they found cannabis in different parts of the house, amounting to nearly five pounds, along with a licensed Glock pistol, one hundred rounds of ammunition, and over twenty-seven thousand dollars in cash. Despite heavy objections from the Crown, the magistrate granted bail in the sum of ten thousand dollars each, plus two sureties of five thousand dollars. They must sign in every Friday at Queen Street Police Station, stay in the country unless the court approves, and avoid interfering with witnesses. Their next court date is December twelfth. For now, the investigation continues, and police are still looking into the origin of that large sum of money.
