SIB Celebrates Statistics Week with Interactive Exhibit at UB

Students gathered at the University of Belize Gymnasium this week as the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) kicked off its celebration of Caribbean Statistics Day and Statistics Week 2025.

The exhibition, held on Wednesday, October 15, featured interactive booths from government ministries, statutory bodies, and partner organisations, all showcasing how data helps shape national policies and development plans. Primary school students from across the Cayo District took part, learning how numbers tell the story behind Belize’s growth and challenges.

This year’s theme, “Improving Lives Through Statistics: Strengthening and Innovating Together,” highlights the role of data in building a stronger, more inclusive Belize. Throughout the week, from October 14 to 17, SIB is hosting activities aimed at promoting data literacy, transparency, and innovation.

The week will conclude with SIB’s annual Data Users Conference on Friday, October 17, at the Belize Biltmore Plaza. The conference will feature the official release of key reports from the 2022 Population and Housing Census, including the Migration Report and the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) Report.
