One Person Detained in Fatal Motorcycle Accident

A fatal motorcycle crash on the George Price Highway has left one man dead and another injured, and tonight, police have detained one person. Thirty-year-old Derrel Montero and Sean Armstrong were reportedly riding on a single motorcycle when the driver lost control and slammed into a guardrail between miles fifty-two and fifty-three. Tragically, Montero didn’t survive. But here’s where it gets even more troubling, there are reports the pair may have been chased by a vehicle before the crash. We asked ASP Stacy Smith about those claims.

“The investigation in relation in relation to Mr. Montero and Armstrong was not closed, it remained an open investigation. As a matter of fact, police have received some of the same indications that you have made and we have been following up on it as well as reviewing footages in the area. I must advise though that no video camera showing what you stated that persons said they saw has been turned into the police. So I’m certainly making an appeal for those persons who have that footage to turn it over to the police so that that can advance the investigation.”

“Was at any point was anybody detained?”

ASP Stacy Smith

“Yes, some male person was detained. An interview was conducted, and photographs were taken of a vehicle that was alleged to have been involved in that accident.”

Reporter

“And Mr. Armstrong, before he died, was he able to give a statement?”

ASP Stacy Smith

“No statement was recording from Mr. Armstrong. The police officers would’ve attempted to do so. I believe that Mr. Armstrong would’ve been able to make  a full recovery. So I don’t think there was an insistent, at least on his part, because police did seek to record that, that statement. But the information that we have so far and certainly person says that there exists a video cameras, we invite person to bring that in so we can continue the ongoing investigation. “
