Free Health Expo Brings Team of 100 American Doctors to Belize City

A large-scale health expo is underway at the Belize Civic Center, where an international team of medical professionals is offering free services to the public from Monday to Thursday, April 16th.

The event, organised by Amazing Facts in collaboration with the Belize Union Mission Seventh‑Day Adventists and the Ministry of Health, is staffed by a team of approximately 100 American doctors.

Services being provided include general medicine, paediatrics, women’s health and gynaecology, and dentistry, all at no cost to patients.

Minister of Immigration Kareem Musa, who spoke at the opening, said the scale of the initiative was unprecedented. “I believe it’s the first of its kind, at least on this very large-scale level,” Musa said. “As you could see, hundreds of Belizeans patiently awaiting this service, a very critical service.”

Dr Javier Canul of the Ministry of Health said the expo reflected a broader understanding of what health means.

“If we go back to the World Health Organization’s definition of health, it’s not merely the absence of disease, but it goes to well-being, whether it be physical, spiritual, mental, and social,” he said.

Amazing Facts, the Christian media organisation behind the initiative, was founded in 1965 as a radio programme that paired interesting facts with accessible biblical messages. It has since grown into an international evangelistic ministry.
