Over 1,300 Served as Medical Mission Wraps Up in Belize City
A four-day medical mission hosted by the Seventh-day Adventist Church concluded this week in Belize City after serving more than a thousand residents with free healthcare services.
Earlier in the week, News Five reported on the outreach, which offered consultations and medical support at no cost to the public. As the initiative wrapped up, organizers confirmed that the response exceeded expectations.
Dr. Zoraida Powell, Health Ministry Assistant for the Belize Union of Seventh-day Adventists, said patient numbers climbed daily. Approximately 230 people were seen on the first day, 350 on the second, and 420 on the third. By the end of the mission, organizers estimate that well over 1,000 individuals had been served.
Dr. Roger Chene, Director of the Amazing Facts Medical Clinic, said the team ultimately attended to more than 1,300 patients over the four days. He described the experience as a blessing, noting that patients were grateful for the services and for the collaboration between the visiting medical team, the Ministry of Health, and the local Adventist community.
Residents welcomed the initiative. Evonne Longsworth said she was happy the church brought its health message to Belize and was amazed by the turnout. Edward Belizeaire described the fellowship as a unique and positive outdoor experience.
