Dubai Completes First Flying Taxi Station

Dubai has completed its first flying taxi station, with commercial operations expected to begin by the end of the year.

Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the milestone after visiting the purpose-built electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) facility near Dubai International Airport. Authorities describe it as the first station of its kind globally.

The four-storey hub will serve as the main base for air taxi operations and is designed to handle up to 170,000 passengers annually. Three additional stations are planned across the city.

Flights will be operated by California-based Joby Aviation, which has exclusive rights for six years.

Officials say the project is a major step toward faster, more sustainable urban transport and will significantly reduce travel time between key destinations.
