Homicide Investigation Launched in Steve Lewis Case

A missing person report has now turned into a homicide investigation. Police say the killing of twenty four year old Dangriga delivery man Steve Lewis is being treated as murder, after his decomposed body was discovered Friday morning along a feeder road near Silk Grass Village. Lewis was reported missing earlier in the week when he failed to return home from a delivery. Investigators say he was last seen leaving his Dangriga residence on the morning of April thirteenth. Days later, that disappearance took a grim turn when police were called to the area off the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway. Authorities are now actively searching for a male suspect as they piece together Lewis’s final movements and work to determine what led to his death.

“Police are investigating the murder of Steve Lewis a twenty-four-year-old Belizean delivery man of Dangriga Town. On Friday seventeenth April 2026 at approximately eight thirty a.m. police were called to an area off a feeder road off the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway in the vicinity of Silk Grass Village. The officers when going down that feeder road encountered the decomposed body of Lewis. He was reported missing on fourteenth April 2026, when his common-law wife visited the Dangriga Police Station and reported that she last saw him at around eight o’clock a.m. on thirteenth April and at that time he had departed their residence to do a deliver. Police are seeking one male person in relation to this investigation. I am not sure if the autopsy has been conducted. It usually is when the body is in an advanced state of decomposition. However I can say that we suspect the cause to be a gunshot injury given that an expended shell was found on the scene.”

Grieving Mother Seeks Answers After Steve Lewis’ Killing

For Steve Lewis’ family, the questions begin with his final delivery. His mother, Suceli Lewis, told News Five that her son took on a charter run to Silk Grass Village, one request that stood out from the start. The customer specifically asked for a full face helmet, and shortly after, Steve set off on his delivery bike. That was the last time his family saw him alive. Suceli describes her son as a hard working young man who focused on earning an honest living and staying clear of trouble. Now, as police investigate his killing, she and many others are left asking the same painful question: why would anyone want to harm a young man who was simply doing his job?

“Yes, he mih the work. They called him to do a delivery. The young man called form Lake Land to do a delivery and the young man told him to bring a cover up helmet. So my baby gone look for a cover up helmet, gone look for the person and shoot out of Dangriga. My son was a family person. My baby does not like to socialize. It does not matter if I say, let’s go to park son, they are having park day. Let’s go to park. He would say, no mommy I am not going. I am afraid. I am afraid. That is what he would say. He dah from home, because he lived with his girl. He would leave from there, come by me and go right back. He was a sweet and humble young man. Sweet, he does not like problem. He does not even have friend. Sir, honestly no retaliation. I will leave it up to God. All I wanted was a closure for my baby and I done get my closure. No retaliation. I will leave it to God. I believe in my God. I have faith in him.”
